Austria's U19 national team starts on Saturday 2027 in the new Euro cycle with an away match against Spain at the Municipal Football Field in Calatayud. Under head coach Florian Grein, the aim is to continue the unbeaten run since 2011 on the European stage. The match kicks off at 17:00 CEST and will be broadcast live by the Spanish federation FEFA.
In the medal phase 2027 only the group winner qualifies. Austria, the reigning European champion and a major favourite, also faces the Czech Republic in Group A. Grein stresses: "Our goal must be to assemble a competitive team again. With Spain we face a largely unknown opponent with no scouting material available. It is therefore even more important to react quickly in the game."
For the opening, the coaching staff has nominated a squad that reflects Austrian youth development. A total of nine clubs, eight from Austria, send their talents to the national team. The full roster with names and positions can be viewed on the official website.
After a final training day on home soil on Thursday, the team departs for Spain on Friday morning to officially start the title-defence mission.
