Ex-ÖFB player Maximilian Ullmann (30) was signed by Grasshoppers Zürich in November 2025 from Gerald Scheiblehner. Under the former Salzburg coach Peter Zeidler, he was cut from the squad, prompting him to look for new opportunities. The Oberösterreicher could potentially sign with a club back home.
Potential Return of Unemployed Players
According to the 'Tiroler Tageszeitung', Ullmann is a candidate for signing with WSG Tirol. He made an appearance for Austria in 2022 and would be open to further transfers. Even a potential recall of Valentino Müller, Matthäus Taferner, and Johannes Naschberger is being considered. All three played the last season for WSG and allowed their contracts to expire, leaving them jobless.
Ullmann's return to Austria highlights that there are always new opportunities for former top players who are no longer recognized in Switzerland.
