Matteo Bignetti, goalkeeper for 1. FC Saarbrücken, has been called up to the Austria national team. The 19-year-old Christian Zawieschitsky is out with an adductor injury, prompting Bignetti to join the squad as the third-choice keeper for the matches against Ireland and Kosovo.
Austria face Ireland on Thursday evening and Kosovo three days later. Their most recent fixture was a 1-1 draw in Kosovo on 4 October, with Christoph Lang scoring the equaliser in the 85th minute. The team's form over the last five games reads two wins, two draws and one defeat.
Bignetti is considered unlikely to feature in the forthcoming games. His call-up, however, provides necessary cover in the goalkeeping department. The national team's next home match is scheduled for 14 November against Ireland.
