Alexander Prass and Kevin Danso provided the contrasting highlights of a busy week for Austria's internationals at their clubs. While Prass scored and assisted for Hoffenheim, Danso was sent off in Sunderland's defeat.
Prass started and played the full 90 minutes in Hoffenheim's 2-1 Bundesliga win over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday. The midfielder scored the second goal in the 68th minute and also provided the assist for the opener from Maximilian Beier. This strong domestic performance followed a brief appearance in the Europa League against Beşiktaş. The Austrian national team, unbeaten in their last four matches with two wins and two draws, will welcome an in-form attacking player. The next fixture for the ÖFB side is a home game against the Republic of Ireland on 14 November.
Red card for Danso
A less positive weekend was experienced by centre-back Kevin Danso at English Championship side Sunderland. In the 2-0 loss at Bournemouth, the 27-year-old was shown a straight red card in the 84th minute and will now serve a suspension. In the Premier League, David Affengruber played the full match in Fulham's 1-0 win over Hull City. Xaver Schlager also completed 90 minutes in Nottingham Forest's narrow 0-1 home loss to Arsenal.
